I took mine off. I wouldn't consider it rice, the term lost all meaning...anything someone does different than someone else is rice these days. I took all my rear badges off, it's just glued on, then I used 87 octaine to get the glue off. then i went inside with a lil knife full of bondo. and pushed it through the front where the 2 little guide holes are and used floss to get the excess off, left no mess or anything, then used touch up paint to get the pink bondo. Took 15 minutes when I was bored and looks perfect.

 

The only holes are behind the [H] logo

 

just a word to the wise, I just did this for the 3rd time on my new civic, and it *can* damage your paint... I did it on my other 6th gen, both came right off, blowdryer, and plastic putty knife, before I just used a blowdryer and it came right off. this time I did it same as before, but this time when I took the emblem off, some of the paint decided to come with it even though the glue was almost gooey.. it wasn't major but a bit of the top coat of paint peeled off and looked pretty bad, not to mention the glue still stuck on there would not come off no matter what I used..

long story short I decided to put the emblems back on after painting them black, now they actually look better than without emblems so its all good, but just be aware that you should be careful or you can potentially peel off some paint with the glue

 

with the 5g civic i peeled off the back 'Civic' and the 'CX' off, and i just used a hair dryer and some bug/tar remover and it worked fine...i just had to rub a bit to remove the glue. with the 5g's the 'Civic' and 'CX' are only stickers so it's a bit different. on my new 5g i plan to remove all the badges including the [H] emblem and replace the [H] emblem with the 99-00 'Civic' badge...some may call it rice, but i think it should look ok. just my 2 cents.
