Just look at the engine harness, which side are the plugs on? If they are on the right, It's probably a JDM motor.

a numeral suffix is a USDM motor.

JDM b18c is like a usdm b18c1 except it has different pistons and a compression ratio of 10.6:1 usdm b18c5 has the same compression ratio but the different tranny, cams, head, intake manifold and all make the two completely different.

What is better? USDM or JDM? In all honesty here. I know everyone thinks JDM is cooler...

I might have it wrong, but according to that site, the B18C is the same as the B18C5... :dunno: Might be bad info. :happysad:

So the B18C has the same CR as the C5, just with a different head setup?

I'm wondering myself now. h:

Depends what your end game is. If your looking to sc or turbo it the USDM one is probably better since it has a 10:1 compression ratio. If your looking to go all motor you'd be better off to start with the JDM b18c since it has a 10:6 compression ratio. Not saying you can turbo or sc a JDM motor, but you'd prob want to get the compression down on a JDM motor before doing so. More chance of kaaaaaaaaaaaabooooom!

Hmm.... interesting. It just seems like there's all this fuss to have a JDM this and a JDM that. That's all. Glad to know that my USDM still rocks out. good times.

The ITR motor in Japan is stamped B18C only. The only way you can tell is by the intake manifold and head.
