Default Bosch O2 Sensor

Hi folks,

I installed a Bosch O2 sensor in my car and the Check engine light came on. I tried to reset it by disconnecting the battery, and it stays off when I reconnect the battery and crank up the car. The light will stay off as long as I don't shut the car off. The check engine light comes back on after the car's been off for a while (not sure how long). I just put the old factory one back on and reset it (disconnect/reconnect battery) and so far the light has stayed off.

Has anyone had similar experience with the Bosch sensor?

P.S. I have an AEM/K&N intake (Short) and Apex'i WS Cat-back on my car.

Sometimes you just can't beat OEM parts. Cheap crap from AutoZone and Pep Boys might save you money, but sometimes they cause more problems and they're not worth the money....

$269.69?!?!?! That *%@#@&* much for a little sensor with four little wires attached to it? Does one really benefit that much from a new sensor? With my aftermarket intake and exhaust, I'd expect the car to run more efficiently, but I've only been getting mid-20's in MPG, in city/hwy mixed driving (maybe I am revving it too much) Afterall, $270 buys a lot of gas...

I have used several of the Bosch universal O2's (the ones you wire yourself and save $40.00) over the years and I have never had a problem. I just can't see paying that much for an o2.

Well, an O2 sensor is a little more complex then that, but yes, that's basiaclly what it is.

Yes. In the long run, you will save gas, make more power, and pass emissions tests if you live in an emissions testing area. I would personally try an NGK stock fit replacement unit (~$80) before an OEM Honda replacement part. Mind you, a local dealer will probably charge more then Majestic Honda, probably $300+

Well, I'll keep this short and sweet. Yes, adding performance parts to your engine will make it flow more efficiently. No, it will not make it save gas, in fact it will burn more gas. That additional fuel burning off creates the power gains that individual products yeild. Revving the engine definately does not help either, the difference between my car getting 250 and 325 miles to a tank depends on how much I rev it. If you want the longer more detailed version of the fuel efficiency story, just ask.
