Default My car started smoking :(

I went to home depot today to try to aquire the monstercable for my home made Hyper Ground System that I saw in another post. But upon ariving at HD I popped the hood to double check the gauge and "o' connector size when i noticed smoke commin from the fuze box inside the engine bay

I have no clue why it did this today? Nothing is new on the car or has been done to it in the past 2 weeks. Not even sure what this wire is and why it decided to get red hot.

From helms manual, that's the cable that goes to the starter and battery + terminal (black cable). It looks like somehow you grounded that terminal. Little electrical resistance in the short would heat up the cable like that. You didn't poke around it with a screw driver or anything like that, did you?

LEAVE IT ALONE!! Disconnect your battery ASAP and replace that wire. You see where the plastic is melted off?? It looks as though someone has messed with this wire before and did a not-so-good job. Replace it before it grounds out and causes a fire.

Yeah get it fixed before any more driving, that's a fire hazard.

It's just a standard power cable.
