I need some Exhaust help....please!!!
I have a 1993 del Sol Si. I believe that my exhaust just snapped off right after the catalytic converter. There is a piece that I can move up and down, and right after that piece I can feel the exhaust coming out. My question is, what is it that I need to replace? Cat-Back? The whole thing? Just need to get it re-attachted? Sorry if I'm not describing my problem that well....I know very little about exhaust systems. Any insight would be helpful.
If it's right off after the cat, then all you need is a new cat-back or possibly just weld it back together again. Take it to a muffler shop and get a FREE estimate, then decide what you want to do. Maybe now's your chance to get an aftermarket one
.
.
Any suggestions on a nice aftermarket one. I know all the brand names, but I would like one that isn't ear bleedingly loud. I'm also not a huge fan of the giant coffee can mufflers. Suggestions anyone????
FYI.....
It was just my resonator pipe. Total cost, with labor was 200. I would've loved to toss a DCsports cat-back on there, but 600 for just the cat-back was outta my league. Thanks for the info.

That actually really pisses me off that someone would rip you off like that. Go to BBB online and fill out a complaint form. That is suck a rip off. Even if you don't get your money back, it's the priciple of it all. At least give them a complaint on their records and maybe that'll deter one customer who took the time to check them out.I've heard BBB doesn't do squat for people, but I've had good luck with them so far. Got back lots of money when I got ripped off and lied to by a car salesman.
Do it and good luck!
Yeah, that price is outrageous... I would DEFINITELY contact the BBB... you might, in addition, try to get some other estimates from other more honest shops to positively prove that the first place ripped you off.
There is an Exxon station in a town near me that is run by all Vietnamese mechanics with very limited English skills... and they tried to tell some lady that a new muffler for her Mercedes would be like $250. She was just about to go for it when I happened to pull up for gas (the old "get $1 here to get me down the road to the cheaper place" maneuver) and hear what was going on. The mechanics were NOT happy when I told her the real deal... so the lady told me she would report them the BBB the moment she got home.
