Default Help? Alternator

Well after spending $320 to fix my car I thought everything was alright, sadly no. I almost got stranded in Milton Friday night. Saturday looked at the car and found out that the alternator was gone and I needed a new one.
Today I started to remove it. No problems really (except my friend had a shocking experience, remember to disconnect the battery next time.) Now I have it all off but I can't get the bastard out of the car. The shop manual says you have to remove the bracket, friggin nuts won't budge. One place said the drive shaft has to be removed, uh...I don't think so.

Help me, how do I get this damn alternator out?

i cant help much b/c i have a 97...but mine left me stranded in a parking lot..so my boyfriend and his brother had to change it right there.....it took about 3 hours, in the freezing cold...but they got it out w/o taking anything major out....had to take a few screws out and move a few things, bend some hoses and such...and after turning it every which way, they got the bitch out through the bottom....

putting the new one in was even harder...it had to go in from the top....

anyway, i have no idea what it looks like under ur hood...but, maybe u can just move things around like we did! took awhile...but i was desperate!

sorry if i was no help at all! good luck!

It'll come out from the bottom. That's how I always get it out.

Any more help Josh?

BTW, I'll talk to my buddy. I'm pretty sure he wants the brake pads from you.

:werd:

Not really any more advice. Just pull it out where you can get it out. It's a tight fit and it's on the driver's side of the header.... that's all I got man. :happysad:

Yepper. I just don't see how it would be a pain to get out. It's right THERE!
