Stock radio security code...
I recently bought a '99 Civic from a used car dealer and, unfortunately, the previous owner did not provide the dealer with the radio's security code. I was told that I need to take the car to my local Honda dealer and have them remove the radio cause they need the serial number off the back of the radio to retrieve the security code. I want to avoid that cause I don't want the dealer to make "free" money off me for someone else's mistake. Can't I give the Honda dealer my VIN number and have them retrieve it from there? Or do I no other choice but to have the Honda dealer remove the radio? How much $$$ will this inconvenience set me back?
i had the same problem with my 2k1. i payed the dealer $60 to get me the code, what pain in the butt. ive been finding the dealers dont keep the #on hand and you will need to remove the stereo and give the sereal # to the dealer to get the code
the vin won't get the radio code the only way to get the radio code is to remove the radio and get the serial # off of the radio, once you have the serial # then go to the local dealer and give them the number. They will probably ask for I.D. and proof of ownership. if you don't have the time give me the serial # and I will look it up for you. If you have a white sticker in your glove box that is the serial number then you don't have to remove the radio.
I have an old Acura tape player that I need to have looked up because I'm selling my system. My friend totalled his teg and had this lying around his room without the code or VIN
