Stock radio security code...
I recently bought a '99 Civic from a used car dealer and, unfortunately, the previous owner did not provide the dealer with the radio's security code. I was told that I need to take the car to my local Honda dealer and have them remove the radio cause they need the serial number off the back of the radio to retrieve the security code. I want to avoid that cause I don't want the dealer to make "free" money off me for someone else's mistake. Can't I give the Honda dealer my VIN number and have them retrieve it from there? Or do I no other choice but to have the Honda dealer remove the radio? How much $$$ will this inconvenience set me back?
