Default License plate holes..I'm fed up with them!

I've been trying to get my car back on the street after winter storage..both my license plate bolts had their heads broken off, so I tried to drill them out and then retap a new thread..but now the damn tap broke in the newly formed hole.

Anyone have an idea of getting it out!? And even more important..anyone here have an easy way to get those bolts out! :madfawk:

Default What's up?

Ha ha, your screwed. I'm just kidding. I had the same thing when I bought my hatch. Whoever owned it before me put the plate on with hex head screws and then stripped them out. First I tried using a dremal to cut a slot in the head and use a flat screwdriver to turn them, broke the head off. I took the dremal and cut all the sheetmetal off the inside of the hatch door to get to the back of the screws. I threaded a nut down on threads that stuck through and tried to break it loose like a stud (since the head was gone). Snaped the back end off too. Now I had broken off both ends and there was just leftover screw in the door (I think the screw they used was the wrong size too). I finally just got the drill, drilled holes in the old screws and used a new nut and bolt to hold my license plate on (since I had cut the inside out). Works like a charm. If you want to see pics I have some but there on another machine that's not booted up. Seeya.
