Default clutch help

Ok, so my car sounds fine when I have the clutch pedal pushed in. When I put my car in neutral and let out on the clutch, it's kind of noisy like a slight grinding or bbbbrrrrrr sound. Also, I can rev my car like crazy and it sounds fine, but if I have it in gear and start going, after a few seconds it makes a loud gggggrrrrrrrrrrr sound. After I shift from 1st to 2nd, I don't think about it much because of the exhaust and everything else drowning out the sound--but I know it's still there. This is especially annoying when riding around a parking lot in 1st looking for a parking place. It's noticeably loud. It has done this since I have had it (for about 3 months) but seems to possibly be getting worse. Any ideas?

I think I had a similar problem with my Civic that you're talkin' about. When you press the clutch in it goes away, but as soon as you let it out it makes a knocking grinding noise. Same thing, when you get the RPM's up and get going the wind and exhaust drown it out. In my case it wasn't the clutch, it was actually a bearing in the front of the tranny. I replaced the tranny b/c it was only a few bucks more to just replace it than to rip the existing tranny apart b/c the bearing that was shot because was buried so deep. Like I said, I could be wrong and you could have a diff prob.

Whatever it is, it sounds like it's gonna cost money I don't have to fix. Actually I'm trying to sell it anyway, and I'd rather not fix it. I bought the car the way it is and I just thought maybe it was the cam or something making the noise after I started going but I guess that wouldn't be my luck I've been driving it for about 3 months now with no problems, but I guess it's just a matter of time. I don't even have any grinding synchros. Shifts fine, just sort of noisy when in neutral and makes noise after I start going. It doesn't always do it at the same rpm. This sux.

I'm having the same griding noise problem. I get it when I let the clutch out while in gear. But when I'm driving, the noise stops. Is it alright to drive it while like this until I get it in the shop?

It should be ok. I drove with mine like that for several months before I could come up with the 700 or so to get it fixed. I got screwed though b/c they thought it was the clutch and it ended up being the tranny so the final bill ended up being somewhere around 1300. Good luck man. :driving:
