pricing estimate!! help plz!!!
i'm looking for a set of 4 16-17" rims. which would be a better way to go, buy the rims and tires seperate or buy them as a package?
my next question is, im looking to spend maybe $500 for rims at most. so anyways, i have found a couple differnt wheels that i really like a lot that are under $500. supposing i buy the 4 rims, i would still need to get tires, have them balanced and mounted. the tires i would need would be maybe something like all season preformance? so given that i would have already spent 4-500 on rims alone, how much more could i expect to pay for the tires, them to be mounted and balanced, etc.? please help me out and let me know, thanks!

i know it'll cost about 1000+ if i were to go to like tirerack.com and get everything as a package there, but i dont know if it would be cheaper to just get everything done seperatly. u know buy the rims seperate, get the tires seperate, then get them mounted and balanced, etc. is it easier to buy everything seperate and (possibly) save a decent buck or should i just go for the whole package? keep in mind i really dont wanna be spendin a whole lot of wheels/tires. money is tight right now...plz try and help, thanks
I've done a lot of research on this. If you buy new the package will save you money. If you buy used you don't really have a choice, but to buy the tires seperately. If you buy wheels it's going to cost around $50 to ship, plus $50 for tires if bought seperately. Then you have to get the tires mounted/balanced.
Where I live that's at least $20 a wheel if you can find someone willing to touch the rims. Most places don't want to be liable cause if they scratch them they know your going to raise hell.
When I bought my package it was $50 total for the shipping.
I saved money on the tires, shipping, mounting, balancing, and they threw in new lugnuts. Plus they did an excellent job mounting them, (no scratches). You can save $100-$200 in the long run. When my tires wear out, i'm going to just buy a new package and sell the old rims. I mean by the time I order tires, have them shipped, mounted etc... I could throw an extra $300 in, and have new rims. I could sell my old ones for that, and no hassle finding someone to mount them without scratching them.

yea that makes a lot of sense what wilsel said...i will probably just check into gettin them all as a package. anyone know some decent sites that have wheel/tire packages for 16-17" at good prices? lemme know, thanks for all ur help
check out the wheel packages on www.modacar.com
That's where I got mine... They do a nice job, shipped to me a little slow, but that's because the tires were out of stock.
