Default B16b 98 Hb

I really want to put a B16B in my hatchback. I think at first I will just do simple bolt ons but in the future I want to put the Spoon Sports engine rebuild kit on the motor. This will up my engine size to 1800cc. With this work done what hp should i be expecting. The bolt ons I would have are as follows. Spoon Sports plugs and plug wires, Spoon's clutch and flywheel, Spoon's radiator hoses, toda or spoon cams and cam gears, aem cai, type One Racing header, T1R cat and catback, VAFC and fuel rail injectors and regulator. Thanks and any suggestions are much appreciated. Ryan

wow, with all those parts u can down payment on a house in the bay area. :chuckles:

well to start off, what u do u have right now? 5g or 6g hatch? y a b16b? y not a b18c? what is ur ultimate goal? road racing? autocrossing? drag racing?

what have u done to ur hatch already? ur questions r kinda broad. give us ur current setup, and tell us what u want to achieve and try the search button, it works wonders.

feel free to ask.

I have a 98 hatch back, 6G. I use it as an everyday car and want a very quick well rounded street machine. I would like to get into the 12's all motor. I dont want to do anything that will hurt the durabilty of my car because its my everyday driver. I want a B16B because i feel that with the 1.8L stroker package it will out perform the B18CR and i would have spent close to the same amount of money. Thanks Ryan

I am assuming the Spoon kit uses normal dimension B18C spec-R crank and rods. The B16B is pretty much a destroked B18C spec-R, so stroking it back out to 1.8L puts you on par with the '18C anyway. I would just save the cash on the spoon stuff and start with an '18C, unless you want a '16B block for the "rare and unusual" factor. Building the '18C spec-R should get you farther for the same investment.

Spoon parts arent made for drag racing or to make a lot of power. Research more, looks like you just want spoon parts because they're spoon parts.

Spoon spends alot more time at circuits than at the strip. Their parts are top of the line. I see to many of my friends using lower quality products on their daily driven cars and thats why they spend so much time on the bus. and to the 4 banging guy that last picture is the apexi drift rx7. Thanks for all the advice guys, you have put me in another tight spot. Looks like i have some thinking to do. By the way is hmotorsonline.com a reliable choice for any motor i decide on. Thanks again Ryan

Yes. HMotorsOnline.com is a respectable place to buy engines. I have yet to hear any complaint that wasn't settled.
