I am assuming the Spoon kit uses normal dimension B18C spec-R crank and rods. The B16B is pretty much a destroked B18C spec-R, so stroking it back out to 1.8L puts you on par with the '18C anyway. I would just save the cash on the spoon stuff and start with an '18C, unless you want a '16B block for the "rare and unusual" factor. Building the '18C spec-R should get you farther for the same investment.
