I picked up a set off ebay and I see that a lot of people here have them. How well do they light up the road? Are they mostly cosmetic or do they actually serve a functional purpose?
they're fog lights, not projectors, or driving lights.... so they don't light up the road immensly, they light up about 20-30 feet in front of the car, for poor weather conditions.
they work well for me IMO...having that and my jdm headlights i can see in the rain ....the foglights spread out a little more so u can see hard places...
they are technically projectors (the have a spherical glass lense to disperse the light)
Well, they aren't really. The glass isn't the same as a true ellisoid. I have the "Depo" style lights, and actually if you take them apart, the bulb does not even sit the way a normal bulb would, it is perpendicular. Light output is not great, but that's what fogs are meant for.
I wanted bright light and didn't really care for fog lighting, so I installed HID Xenon bulbs in them and they light up a little better, but still not good enough as far as brightness.
