Default How to disconnect my car alarm?

Hey everyone,

My car alarm on my Acura EL 1.6 keeps going off and it is annoying. I eventually want to get a new alarm but in the meantime I want to disconnect my current alarm because it so goes off constantly.

Anybody know how?

Might be able to take the fuse, or fuses out that correspond with the alarm. If it's a factory alarm, then just look in your manual for location and numbering of the fuses.

I looked at the fuses but the problem is that the fuse that controls alarm also controls the moonroof, daytime running lights and cruise control. So that option (though a great option) would not be practical.

Any other ideas?

I don't have a lot of experience with factory alarms, so I don't know how helpful this will be, but if it were me, I would find the alarm control box, and unplug it. Simple, and effective, I think....

lol....yeah if I can locate where it is. Apparently when I asked a mechanic to do it for me when I had my car in for a repair he replied to me "that is something difficult to do." I was reading somewhere else about grounding the the connection (apparently there is a blue wire underneath the glove compartment box) but I don't feel comfortable doing that (mainly because I don't want to find out that the wire is actually not for the Car alarm but for something else and I end up screwing my electrical wiring up.)

My car alarm particulary goes off when the weather is damp.

Remove the alarm computer brain under the dash. All the wire are plug into it. You can try disconnecting the battery then remove.
