Default NE1 cut their stock shifter to shorten it???

I was just woundering if anyone has cut their shifter insted of using a short shifter. If so how much did you cut off and how did you attach the shift knob? Did it screw back on or did you bolt it? Also the result of doing this??

dont cut it, all it will do is make the shifter lower and harder to reach for, plus its gonna be kinda hard to reattach the shift knob after... there are no good reasons to do it, if you're looking for a shorter throw, u ain't gonna get it unless you change the shifter...

Some people cut the shifter above and below the pivot, flip the pivot ball around, then reweld it. I had to do this on my Camry to get a true short throw, because no one makes a short-throw shifter for that car (it's also a cable linkage). But I would rather have an actual short throw.

It doesn't cost much to get a real short shifter. Don't cut your stock shifter.

ive heard of people buying short shifters then cutting about an inch off the top. you wont get a shorter throww unless you get a shrt throw shifter. it wont make a difference if you just chop off the top

another thing you can do is get a shorter shift knob.

like one of those cheap ball type ones. that should make it about .5~1 inch shorter.

at least that works on my car, it reduces the lever by 1.5inches
