Default 2005 Acura 1.7 EL Stereo install

Hi all,

I want to replace the stock stereo in my 2005 Acura EL (Canadian only vehicle) which is very similar to the Honda Civic 2005.

I was told that my keyless entry system is connected to the stock stereo somehow and if I replace it, the keyless entry will stop working. Is that true for the 2005 year model line? I am not sure if the 2005 Civic and 2005 EL are any different in this aspect.

Before I remove all the panels and take everything apart I need to know if this stereo upgrade will affect the keyless entry. Perhaps I have to buy a special wiring harness? Please help.

Thanks

I started to check for your information last week , on mitchell on demand they said then you can program your key to set your audio unit as you want ,

Exemple : your favorite radio channel 94.7 , when your car received the signal from your key it's gonna put the radio at 94,7 but if it's your girlfriend key it gonna put it at 106,7

So Yes it's with the audio system , BUT , I've check the wiring diagram of your car and , nothing shows then by disconnecting the radio unit your keyless entry will stop working

I'm working on that for a perfect anwser

See ya

Sorry for my english i'm from quebec

I would say this is accurate, your keyless entry will still work fine, but if you had the option where it differentiates between the 2 keyfobs for things like radio station presets, this obviously won't work with an aftermarket stereo. I was unaware that the 1.7EL's had this in the 1st place, but my '01 Sunfire GT had it, so anything is possible.

Thanks all. I got it replaced with no impact to my keyless entry. The stock stereo was just bad. The aftermarket brings life to the vehicle.

I do not know about the programed radio stations with the fog .. never tried, I hardly listen to radio anyways.
