Looking for ideas on empty din
Hello everyone.
I was recently cleaning out my car, and have decided that I finally want to deal with the empty din slot in my EJ6. It's actually part of the center console, where the tape player used to be. If anyone has any ideas for things I could put here, I would appreciate it...
Thanks!
Some ideas I have had:
Gauges (voltmeter, oil pressure, oil temp)
Misc switches
Push button start

I would put gauges there. Voltmeter is a waste. Do oil temp, oil pressure, coolant temp.

I don't want to put a pocket in for one reason: It's another place for crap to build up. I keep my car spotless, and I don't want to have a place where gum wrappers and crap will collect.....
The main reason I had to put a voltmeter in was because it would be nice be able to monitor the electrical system, especially with a an aftermarket stereo and amp. I guess an ampmeter would be better....
What would you look for, where is the benefit? Gauges are going to cost a fair bit, seems like money better spent elsewhere IMO. Seems like an expensive way to fill the gap in your dash, lol. I'd spend the money on a capacitor instead, then you know you don't have to worry about monitoring your electrical system AND it will help the performance of your system.

Not necessarily. A cap is only going to help my amp. An ampmeter is going to tell me the load on my electrical system, including my amp, my head unit, my fogs, my defroster, etc..... So my reasoning behind a gauge was to get a status of the electrical system.
Your electrical system should have no issues powering factory equipment, even with an aftermarket deck (which I power straight off the battery on a fused line personally), if the amp is stressing the system, then you need a cap. If the load is a concern, then the solution is to get a cap, not a gauge that tells you that you need a cap. You can check the status of your system with a multimeter if that's all you want to do.
