trunk space
heres a question thats probably asked a lot, can you take out that wall that seperates the trunk from the cabin or would that interfere with the back window, cause i was wanting to customize the trunk to where my speakers probably 10s or 12s not for sure yet could be seen and i want better sound quality and i read that the cabin has better sound than the trunk does.......
lmao, thought about it, but if you actually take the rear panels out, you'll realize that that's the only thing keeping the chassis rigid, plus the rear window rolls into it. What's the point? Plus, at the bottom of the slot that the window fits into, there are drain holes for water that gets past the gasket. If you want water coming into the car, a chassis that is even more flexible than it already is, go for it!
lmao yea well it was a thought (i didnt think it would work) i knew about the window but didnt konw abut the whole chassis deal, i was thinking along the lines of like shows and crap...lmao i didnt really think it would work........
if you read my post about the whole sponserships you would know that i dont have my sol yet, that i have dealers looking for a 94 dohc vtec....but when i do get it i have some ideas that WILL be done...
you can't take the back console out to put in bigger speakers through the hole
BUT i've seen alot of sol's at the NOPI Nats that had taken the back console and used fiberglass and other materials to "re-sculpt" the back console. I've seen big LCD screens with organicly flowing moldings and 10" woofers molded into it, but i'm not sure if i've seen 12's.... this of course takes fairly major $$$$$ to customize
I saw an enclosed single 10" lower profile box in the Crutchfield catalog with a built in amp that the dimensions say would mount between the seats to the rear console for about $400. Could be an option if you MUST have the BOOOOOOM.

In a car the size of the del Sol, you really don't need bigass subs for good bass. A really nice set of speakers will work well, though what I am planning for my Sol is to cut out the indented portion of the rear console between the compartments and replace it with a rectangular speaker grille fit inside pefectly with a minisub underneath it. It's just dead space under there anyway, might as well use it...
over at hondavision which is still down, dangit, there is a sol with a 15" mtx 8000 molded behind the rear seat, i believe this sol is from over in europe somewhere but anything is possible. i currently am running 4 jl audio 8w0's with the consoles removed but i'm not really pleased with 8's so here soon i'm gonna be getting 2 or 3 10's molded behind the seat. anything is possible you just got to have the money, and you might be able to actually do some custom reinforcing if you have the money and take the center wall out, but your window wouldn't probably be functional.
