Default SRS light

The other day on my way to work I noticed that the SRS light blinked on, and then went back off (where it should be). Then on the way home from work it came on again for a second, and then back off.
Is this just a light that needs to be reset? Or is it a problem with one of the airbags?

I seem to have forgotten to search before posting. :stupid:

It looks like this should fix it:

try it and see. I always reset caution lights to see if they come back or if was a fluke. if it comes back on then you have a problem. You might have to do the procedure a few times til you get everything right. read the steps prior to doing it and rehearse them in your mind.

I've got 1995 Honda DelSol Si with no accident history...and recently its SRS warning light came on after the heavy rain.
So, I thought that it could have been moisture related...and reset the warning light...and came right back on.
So, I ended up taking my Honda to a local dealer. According to Honda dealer, my car needs a new SRS module and quoted me about $1100 for the new part ($600) + labor. For their diagnosis, they charged me a whopping $120.

Does anyone know where the SRS module is located at for 1995 Honda delsol Si? And have any recommended procedure to get the job completed safely?
I found a genuine OEM SRS module for $432.11 (still expensive, but whole lot better than my Honda dealer) and if I could get some help from you, I'm willing to give it a shot. It can't be that difficult to get it done! But I don't know where the SRS module is? Please help!!!

Also, I found a company (http://www.airbagsystems.com/computer.html) who told me that they'd repair my SRS module for $50 + return shipping cost, but I'm not sure about their claim. Has anyone used this company? Do they have a good reputation?

Thanks for your time!

I had the same problem with my 96 odyssey. the srs computer(module) went bad. I traded in the van and never fixed it. It was not required to pass inspection so I drove around with the lite on for at least 6 months. The dangerous part is actually working with the airbags themselves. any stray voltage could trigger them. I did find a module on ebay but even that guy wanted $400. the module on my van was located under the dash near the center console area. it was just an aluminum box maybe 8 x 6 x 1.5 inches. it wasnt marked either. I'm no expert on the replacement but when I looked into doing mine ( b4 i found out the cost) it seemed to be a simple remove and replace job. just disconnect the battery for a while first. but i kno there are expert techs on here who could tell ya what needs to be done.

Default SRS light

Thanks mason_rocket for your reply! I appreciated that very much!
How did you find out about where your SRS was located at? Did you have a Honda service manual (if so, could you scan the page and put'em up here?) or are you a very mechanically inclined person?

I think that your description (about SRS module location) is pretty accurate and disconnecting battery seems to be a very good idea in order to avoid accidental deployment of its air bags. However, I'd prefer having a decent SRS module replacement procedure before I open up my delsol. Well, mainly for a safety reason... I have never messed with SRS system before, so naturally I am being a bit cautious!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks again!

The SRS module should be located on the right side of the driver's side footwell, see picture below. As for replacing anything dealing with the SRS system you always want to make sure the battery's negative terminal is disconnected and allow the charge to escape the system before you attempt any type of work. Should be a rather simple swap as long as you follow all precautions. You may need to do a reset if the light comes on after the modules have been swapped. If the problems persists check the part # to make sure you have the right module for your car. If that doesn't seem to be the problem and the unit is previously used, then you have a bad unit.

sometimes your SRS light comes on due to the clock spring in your streeing wheel. You would know if this is the cause to your problem if your horn goes out
