Hey Guys,
I was actually deciding to build a car in the near future and was ending up thinking about doing a hatch or using the del sol body. So i was talking it over with one of my friends and he said it was a girls car. I didnt think of it much then but when i was on my way to my office, i saw a few del sols and all had chicks in them (not that there is anything wrong with that). I like the del sol casue of the roof can be takin off, but other than that, its just like a civic. So Help Me Decide, Oh and by the way, those with hybrd del sols, please tell me if you guys were satisfied with it, what were some major problems, etc. P.S. want to keep it as a daily driver.

I know what you mean with the roof. There is nothing like cruising on a nice warm day and being able to take that roof off. I call not a girls car. I'm sure some of the guys with hybrid DelSol's will tell you they are satisfied. With enough time, money, devotion and hard work, there is no doubt you can make the car your own and surely be satisfied with it.:thumbup:

 

Seriously, your friend is a chode if he thinks that they are gilrlie cars. Please...spare me. The top os one of the best things about it. They aren't mega overplayed the way your basic Civics and Integras are. For every delSol that you see in a mag there have been dozens and dozens of Civics and Tegs. Calling a delSol a girlie car would be like saying that Jeeps are meant for tree huggers, trying to get closer to nature, or that each and every Camaro owner has a mullet. None of that is true and is rediculous. If you want to be different and stand out in a sea of civics and tegs with they typical boring bolt-ons, then the delSol is a good choice. Why do up something that has been done a million times before? As far as swaps, pretty much anything you see for a 5G Civic will also work for the delSol.

In defense, every single sol driver I've seen in my area (DC metro area) is a male. But I chose the del sol for a variety of reasons ... my gender had nothing to do with it. I wouldn't even begin to worry about bs like that... your friend is too image conscious.

Lastly, I might eventually go hybrid... I've read lots and lots of good stuff about it. Del Sols are light to begin with - with a B16 or B17 or B18, they can be quite quick - surprisingly so.

 

Heh... I origionally got mine to do stereo competitions. That didn't happen. hehehee

 

i agree with soltaker, you dont see very many compared to civics etc...The targa top is a plus, kinda reminds me of a supra(targa) alot of the people i know say bs about sols but like i told them ive only seen three in my city and none of them are suped up at all, i just want one to be different.....:thumbup:

 

damn, i didnt know there were a bunch of desi's on this board. Any-who, i liked the whoe idea about the top coming off. My Friend, the one mentioned above, drives a supra, so thats were i liked the whole thing. As for everything else, i am pretty familier with the whole hybrid set up. Acutually, i have a b16b sitting in my garage doing a bunch of nothing, so that will be the heart of the car. Also DelSolSIinMD, i work and go to school in the dc area and i work near the pentagon, and like in the past few days, i all the del sol's if seen, were being driven by women (again, not that there is anything wrong with that, personally i think its kind of sexy when i see a beutiful women driving a modifed car). So now, i guess im just am going to start looking for a shell. By the way, is there anything else i should know about?

 

:shrug: I think it's somewhat feminine, but I really don't care.. I like the way it looks, the way it drives.. the top wasn't even that important to me.. it's just a cool car the miata is worse when it comes to being a fem car imo >

plus like soltaker mentioned, I'd rather stand out than mix in with everyone else.. I don't have to modify anything on my car to be unique.

 

for you to post this question i think you should not buy a delsol, go get the hatchy...

 

the fact that you would base weither or not to buy a sol on your friends calling it a girls car means that you are not allowed to buy one.. you buy the sol for the love of the car. when i was younger i had an 86 grand prix with t-tops and creager ss wheels i thought i was the **** and loved cruising on a hot day with the tops out.. i wrecked and went out to get a civic it just was not the same ..now i have a 94 sol with a b16 and just ordered my turbo. let me race the fool in the supra and show him how gilie it is... also when did he get his supra,has he had it for a while and is a true supra fan,, or did he watch f and f one time and say i have to have a flaming orange homo mobile..
