i say 16's as opposed to 17's because w/17's you'll be scared that every pot hole will dent your rims, and they will too :-/

since you're question about getting 17. i would say that mine is dropped with GC and 17 Axis. so far i am happy with it, no rub w/ the fender. Axis does not come with 42 offset for 17. but if you can get at least 42 offset, you should be fine....
