thermostat
I have the same problem with my 96 ex, i have to drive it for like 20-30 miniutes to get good heat, my guage doesnt really move at all, i replaced the thermostat thinking it was bad, changed the block sensor for heat the sensor for my gauge and still does the same thing. i had to put a peice of cardboard box infront of the raidaitor so i could block the flow of cold air cooling the coolent to fast. now i get heat.
From personal experience, local auto parts stores' thermostats suck ass. Mine failed in a couple months. I'm all for saving money but this is one time that it's not worth it.
At the dealer, the thermostat cost me $22.00 with gasket. Ordering one costs $11.00 with gasket.

A friend of mine put in a $10 Stant thermostat 2 years ago and it still works flawlessly. Get one that is "OEM temp".
Look at the temperature needle. Is it at or close to the halfway mark? If it is past it, you're running too hot. If the other way, the engine is running too cold. And also, if it's running cold the needle will dip down closer to "C" at highway speeds.
