obd explanation
first of all, i know what obd is but im confused on another issue. does obd only matter based on the ecu and the wiring harness? does it have anything to do with the actual engine itself? basically, im lookin to buy a jdm motor online for my 92 civic lx sedan which is obd1. im goin with a b16a sir2 but im a little weary to buy a motor from 92-95. they say their engines only have a certain amount of miles on them, but still the engine is from 92-95, how can they guarantee that? so i guess my real question is, is the engine actually newer, but a obd1 ecu is included? ive searched all around the forums to figure this out, just couldnt find it. any help would be freakin awesome. thanks a lot! also, anybody ever do business with jspec auto (www.jspecauto.com)? if so, any good, bad? any input would be great, thanks!:naughty:
:naughty:
two other quick questions. anybody know if my cold air intake (d15b7) will fit on this engine, or do i need to get a new one? also, will my radiatior be sufficient, or do i need a better one?

on the head, it says what year it is....my car is a 92 and it has 92 stamped on it. and about mileage, they really cant tell unless its a front clip with the gauge cluster.
if the motor is obd2 you get the ecu from that motor and it WILL plug into your harness, but you will need the vtec wire harness and wire that up. someone correct me if im wrong im not 100% on my last statement..
your intake will fit and the radiator should be fine too.....depends on what your doing with the car, ie, daily, racing, autox.

its gonna be mostly a daily driver with just a little racing, just for fun ya know? im a little confused by what you said though. i can get an obd2 engine/ecu, and it will plug right into my obd1 harness? do i need a conversion harness to do this (if so, ive never seen a conversion harness to convert an obd2 motor to an obd1 car, just for an obd2 car to an obd1 engine, or am i just dumb)? also, do i need a vtec harness or could i just hard wire the vtec? from the research ive done, i think i only need to wire 3 or 4 wires for the vtec (the solenoid, the knock sensor, and 1 or 2 more i cant remember). thanks bud!!!

this is what i understand.....
all 94-01 integs and 92-95 civics have the same plugs on the firewall. but all 96+ have ob2 plugs to the ecu. obd2 motors have different plugs for the distributor and injectors.
i put a b16a sir1 (converted to sir2 sensors) in my 93 hatch, used my cx harness, and hard wired the vtec solenoid and pressure sensor. im running a p28 ecu (92-95 si) so i didnt need to run the knock sensor
