Default uh, is this supposed to happen?

I was doing a 15k tuneup today and was inspecting the axles and the drive shaft.. I took a hold of the drive shaft, and turned it w/ my hands. The wheels turned in opposite directions! Are the wheels supposed to turn in opposite directions?

I also took a hold of the front left wheel, turned it forward. Same symptom, and the right one turned backwards.
