Mods: don't move this, already have a thread in the audio/electronics forum, and figured since it's pretaining to civics, it would be nice to have a copy of the thread in here. thanks
On with the thread.....
Yes, neons are gay, and they get you pulled over, draw negative attention, yada yada yada.
But I drive a slow ass '96 4 door civic lx, and my stereo is already where I want it to be, as is my outside appearence (lowered 1.6", 16" rims, a good overall look). My engine has 75k miles, so I'm not going to swap that for quite a while, nor am I going to waste the money on I/H/E or other mods that will just make my car louder (wait, I can't even get a header for my car). Yet I'm itching to mod my car. :a:
Now I feel like doing some interior lighting for shits and grins, and to impress my simple minded friends
(my car is a people hauler
h: kinda the party-mobile
)
- I was thinking 4 neons, 2 up front under the dash (like we always see), 2 in back under the front seats, again the norm.
- another pulsing neon for my sub box (I saw one that was multi colored, looked alright)
- probably redo some dash lighting to get a blue light theme going on, and I have a few other smaller things going on. Why? Why not :fawk:
- aboslutely NO underbody/outside lighting! (and I have 20% tint, so even lighting on the inside won't be super obvious)
but now my problem is, I want something around the top area that lights it up alright. Allthough local law states lighting above the waist when standing is illiegal, I was going to throw something in, but I'm stuck with probably two 15" black lights? Anything else I'm not thinking of that can go in there? I saw this lighted string shit, but it looks kinda cheap to me.
Suggestions, pics of setups, whatever, would be super. I just want a nice interior.
I appologise in advance on the :ghey:ness of this thread

i don't see anything wrong with this...the interior could look really cool. you have my support...
question, where would you mount the blacklights? and 2 15" blacklights is a lot i think...2 of those light my whole room...maybe just 2 6" blacklights?
maybe mount one behind right your dome light, with side tabs so the light doesn't shine anywhere but down onto the passengers (i'd hate to have a blacklight in my view every time i looked in the rearview mirror, or if i was sitting in the backseat and had to look into a blacklight...and this way they won't be visible from outside) and one under the radio/heating controls, just above the cupholders? that should cover the front and back seats nicely, without overdoing it.
just some thoughts, good luck

Redman the rapper?

They're just regular blue LED's with resistors already wired inside this tiny blue box -- yeah I'm lazy

as for the 15" black lights, I was thinking mounting them along the top of the a/b/c pillars, parallel to the sides of the car, on that plastic trim, hiding the wiring behind that, and mounting them with screws. I saw this switch at, again, autozone, that you could turn off four different things running off power, so one button for floor lights, one for pulsating lights, a 3rd for the random lights (Cashis gave me a good idea with the LEDs mounted in the vents, and also throw some in the speaker grills), and then another switch for the top or celing lights. I've heard about redoing Hvac lighting, so I may give that a shot. And I want to get reverse indiglos, but am hesitant to untill I swap my engine (I may get an si, or maybe just an ex engine swap. Or maybe a b18c1... hard to read the future.)
all in all, I think its gonna look cool as hell, but boy is it going to be expensive (well, maybe $200-$300
h: )
