Default winter and rims

My new wheels should be coming in tomorrow and i was thinking about putting them on because the stock steelies i have on now have bald tires on them and i get no traction what so ever when it snows ( seeming to be like every other night this year), and i was wondering if the winter, snow, salt, blah blah blah will actually hurt them because id really enjoy alittle grip on the road. But they are coming with kumho ecsta 712's and ive heard they suck in the snow anyway. would it be worth my while to put them on, or would the possible damage over weigh the little traction i may still have?

i've used performance tires both winters i've had my car (yoko paradas, now yoko avs es100s) and as long as you know how to drive in the snow and you arent an idiot they're fine... i'm talkin shift at 1.5-2k rpms and just go slow and no tailgating..

I'd suggest just pick up snow tires for your steelies. Cheaper. And once they start plowing the roads, the potholes will definitely give your new wheels some trouble.

Salt eats rims. I would never rock rims in the iwnter. Spring for some winter tires man.

Winter tires don't do a thing for me, Camber owns me

Alloy wheels and winter is not good (just like most things and winter). The rock salt, sand, and water will begin to peel away at the coating on the wheels, and though they won't rust, they'll continually get stained from the salt and dirt deposits. BTW, I used to live in Toronto, so this is from many years of winter experience.

ok, i figured the salt and **** would kill em. jsut checking to see if it really mattered, but appently it does. i dont have the money to buy new tires, i think ill just rock the bald tires till spring. i got a set of 15 black steelies from newer civic, ill get winter tires for them next year.
oh, by the way, camber owns me too, big time. i just about ruined two tires in three months.

Buy some Bridgestone BT70s for your steelies. They're awesome all seasons, and cheap too.
