suspension installation ?s
ok... my questions are...
koni yellow and ground control
1) when installing the shocks and gc... can i still use the original dust cover from my stock shock? mine are rubber type... and can i just drill the hole on the top to enlarge it and still reuse it?
2) i've read elsewhere that when reusing ur original bump stop... you don't have to cut it. is that true? if so, what will the result be compared to having the bump stop shorter vs. original lenght?
3) when buying the the GC online... how do i know or how can i specify what pound of spring i want?
4) by any chance does anyone know what is the spring rate for the stock suspension on a 2000 civic?

if you order straight from GC, you can ask for custom rates. you need rates that are much higher than stock b/c the springs have less travel. if you plan on getting konis, you have to get koni specific sleeves. you will need to modify your stock dust covers and to trim the bump stop
1.) I'd ditch the dust cover. Ground control wants you to cut off nearly 3/4 of the dust cover. I just threw mine out. The amount left won't cover ****.
2.) You do use the original bump stop. You cut the bump stop in half. The reason you cut it is so your rod can go a little lower before sitting on the bump stop. People who leave their bump stop the same size and slam tend to usually ride on their bump stops.
3.) I'd call up Ground Control and talk with them, and tell them you are using Koni if you do plan to use Koni's.
4.) I'm not sure what the spring rates for the stock stuff is, but if when you order spring rates make the rear atleast 50 pounds stiffer than the fronts. my friend sport 500f/550r spring rates with AGX shocks. Ride is kinda bouncy due to the shocks. You could go softer in the spring rates, and still cracker jack handling. Plus then your spring rates would work well for auto cross, the ultra high spring rates are better for road racing.
Enjoy.
