do i need anything else except the ECU? (got a 98 ex ecu but unfortuanately it is a manual ecu and i have an automatic)

I wouldn't bother. You will get the benefits of a VTEC head but you won't get the all the advantages a stock VTEC version of your car would have and you will be slower. A factory VTEC engine is going to have slightly higher compression pistons and a more agressively geared tranny, two things you can swap over but for the same cost, could probably just do a complete Z6 engine swap (tranny and all). If you want to stick with a SOHC engine, that's what I would do. Find a complete D16Z6 from a '92-'95 EX coupe or sedan or Si hatch and swap that into your car. I believe your current mods will swap right over (specifically the header and intake) and if you search around and find a solid motor and install a new timing belt, water pump, some new hoses and do a good tune up you should have a solid running engine that will be very reliable. I don't know how comfortable you are with working on your car but rigging together a new engine from a few other engines usually isn't as reliable as letting the factory do it. Seeya.

3 wires=vtec soleniod,vtec pressure switch,ground.
1. d16z6 complete head
2. d16z6 intake manifold (or use your existing one so you dont have to rewire)
3.92-95 civic SI timing belt
4. 92-95 civic ex/si plug wires
5. d16z6 distributer or d16a6 (works with light modification)
6. PM6 ECU or P28 ECU
7.d16z6 head gasket, exhaust manifold gasket, intake manifold gasket and (valve cover gasket<--not required)
This is for the original poster, msilage I am not sure exactly what you would need, but the list would be similar. My advice is similar to Andy's,but I would say screw the SOHC and get yourself a B18C1 or B16A siRII.

its tempting man but not worth it to me. im not really looking for this to be a power machine, since its my daily driver. i just want something that can cruise a little faster than it currently is. i figure with the sohc head and some other mods (possibly a turbo in the next few months) it will be enough. im not looking to build something to race or something to take to the track. just something with a lil power when i stomp on the gas.
yea i know Red, thats all im looking for. soopin my car up so its super fast doesnt really appeal to me...it would if my civic was a project car and i had another but since its my daily driver i just want a little more umph
I'd just pick up a sohc vtec long block. Cheap to attain also.
