Default 2000 civic Si

My wife and I are looking at a 2000 FBP Si a customer of mine has for sale. It's got 95,000 miles, 4 new tires, perfect alignment, very clean inside and out. We know we'll have to do the timing belt soon. She's asking $5500, which is what she paid a few months ago for it. I want to offer $5000.

We plan on having it as our second car (also have a 92 Integra LS with 231k miles as our daily). The two of us carpool because it's cheaper gas wise, but there are some days we do need a 2nd reliable car.

Is there anything in particular to look for? Does $5000 sound fair for a 9 year old Si? Any other input or opinions would be appreciated.

$5k would actually be a pretty good deal.

Is the car stock? Beyond the basics, I think the most important thing to check for are signs of a past life as a ricer. A lot of these cars were beat on pretty badly. Check for unusual wiring or any signs of aftermarket parts. Once you get the car, get an alarm and take the ECU or fuel relay (or anything that would immobilize the car) out whenever you park it. This car is a major theft magnet.

The car is all stock. I had it up on the lift and checked out everything. I cant see where anything has been modified.

Cool beans. Then just the basic stuff... you already know you need a t-belt and water pump, check CV boots, check brake pads, look for oil leaks and blown shocks... If it's been well cared for, it's still just a baby. Many more miles to come

The lady traded it in to a dealership who gave her 5500 for it. After i ran a carfax i found it had a salvage title.

I would go for it . Hell, I paid $7500 for my 98 GSR in 05 w/ 78,000. It was completely stock. As a matter of fact still have my oem radio. Only thing changed performance wise is a short ram intake & a lower tie bar.
I wanted a 99 Si B4 my Gsr but 4 yrs ago the cheapest prices I saw were between $13-16 K.

Sorry. She traded it in saturday on a new car. We offered her 5k on friday, told us she would think about it and then called us sunday and said she traded it in and the dealer gave her 5500. Didnt ask us if we wanted to match it. Oh well.

Id like to look at a RSX S type now.
