Default Oil related question...

Is there a major difference between a 5w-30 and a 5w-50 oil? I bought a case of the 5w-50. Just wondering if I should return it for the 5w-30.
I live in Hawaii where the temperature never falls below 60 (except on rare occasions) if that matters.

The difference is that a 5w50 will not thin as much as a 5w30 will when it's warm. It'll protect your engine better, but your engine will have to work a little harder since it's essentially thicker than a 30 weight is under normal operating temperatures.
