$19,000 into an Si?
35k For just Speed I'd get an 80's mustang and just rebuild it.
35k For Luxury and Sport I'd get a basic 3 series BMW with mods equivalent to the finnal amount.
If I had 35k to spend on any car without monthly payments then I sure wouldn't be someone who would worry about the price of maintence work at dealerships like BMW, Jaguar and the sort.

35k is chump change if you are really into racing. A buddy of mine has a 64' Rambler that runs 7's. the heads alone are over $3,000.00 a piece. His current motor was $15,000.00 and he build it himself. He runs a 400shot of NOS. He is an engineer for Holt Catipillar and does tranny work and turbo stuff on the side for extra play cash. He has three 64' AMC ramblers. It scares me to think of how much cash he spends racing. He wins quite a bit and has sponsers but that just gets dumped into other cars mostly. If you added up all the money you blew every year you would probably kick yourself. 19k is really not that much if his dad has bank. Hell, my boss drives a 2003 140k SL500,2002 S500, 2003 Hummer H2, 2001 odessy EX, and a Lexus Landcruiser (whatever it is). So, is 19k really that much to him? Nope, not when you make $150,000 a month. He probably spends 19k in season tickets to the spurs every year. So, if his dad is banking then it's possible. I went to college with kids that drove 6 digit cars so what's 19K. The kid just might like Civics. Sure I could replace my civic with an M3 or something but where is the fun in that. I could throw 19K into my car in an instant without it actually looking much different. Full racing tranny and a Spoon motor and your there.
I know the guy who drives that integra. His name is Deric Massie. What they didn't mention is the 80k includes the price of the car (25k) and the 2 or 3 engines BASZ has put in it and blown, I think it laid down 534 hp to the wheels. Pretty quick car... Tim's car (owner of basz) is rumored to have 600-650hp. Anyone else from cincy know if he sucessfuly laid down those numbers?
Thats exactly the thing guys... this kid has the money, probably doesn't know much when it comes to building up a car, and knows civics have that reputation for being "hooked" up. So to him it all makes sense for him to try to acquire a "street racer" image. While he's at it, he'll just make his ride respectable by dumping tons of money into it.
My understanding from my friend who knows the kid, the car is not due out of the shop for a week possibly more. Keep in mind I do NOT know the kid, if he lets me take pictures so I can post them up here to show fellow Honda enthusiasts, it won't be a problem. If not, who am I to snap pics of his car if he doesn't want tme too. I'll have my friend do some convincing of the kid, we'll tell him everyone on H-A.net is awaiting the car or some other :bs: and hopefully I'll have pics up a day or two after I see it persoanally. Thanks guys I'll keep everybody updated just stay tuned into CIVIC 1992+. Peace...
