my newby stupid question(s)
whazzup :fawk: , Im new to this forum, but not to hondas. I have a 91 hatchback with JDM zc swap that i did myself(actually selling the car right now - email if interested), and i recently bought a 94' DelSol VTEC grenada black. I must say, this car is much cooler than i had previously thought.
I work at the local Honda dealership in the parts department, so if any of you ever need parts for your sol - or anything really - let me know and i will hook you up. And if anybody is in IOWA, gimmie a shout and well shoot the **** sometime, im pretty lonley around here cause everybody drives piles of crap with fart pipes and neons in the window,or rusty trucks blarin' country music - and i refuse to associate myself with them.
NEwayz. since my last car had some beef added to its balls, i felt the immediate need to put beef in my del sol after i bought it. About a week after i had it, i made a cold air intake for it(2.5in mandrel bent pipe out to the bumper)... noticable difference, and i sure as hell know when VTEC kicks in now cause its louder than hell. But now i am decididng what to do after i buy exhaust for it. Right now i am planning on buying an apex or hks universal, and having a shop do the 2.5 catback 4 me.
what do you guys think? its either that or this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...876165637&rd=1
I checked out the company, and they dont make all that bad of stuff, and i really really like the looks of the dual can.
Im on a college budget, so im not rollin in it, but i try to make sure i buy somthing 4 my car about every month.
Also, i have Enkei RSF-2's in 16" with nitto 450's that i bought for my hatch, but i decided not to put them on there. I have had them on my Sol(i have pics somewhere), but i feel like i need 18's to fill up the huge wheelwells that honda dammned the del sol with. What do you guys think?
I have a ton of time on my hands cause i dont have a license
(110mph in a 65 zone + undercover cop in a camaroSS chasing me = byebye license fo long time)
so i dont go out a whole lot, but at the same time, my insurance is over $270 a month(sr22 full coverage) so i have to strategically plan out my mods so i can get them without going in the hole.
what are you guys running/have had for exhaust?
My plans(hopefully in the next year
:
18" Tenzo-R Passion 5's in gunmetal(ohbaby
)
H&R sport springs
KYB AGX's
DC tower braces front, reat & lower rear brace
Short shifter
Poly-inserts for motor mounts
reverse indiglo gauges
Angel eyes in my aux lights (currently fabricating)
2.5 exhaust(above)
Apex V-afc
De-badged
Currently making carbonfiber switch panel with Blue illuminated mini duckbill switches to mount on front windshield crossmember behind rear view mirror - like an airplane
After that:
Blue/Orange underbody neons
Crossdrilled all around
Hondata ECU
JSP carbon fiber Blade wing(maybe)
Homemade t3/t4 intercooled turbo@10psi
Block guard
carbonfiber altezzas
Bodykit(not sure, havent seen one for the sol i like yet)
Anyways, that was kinda long for a first post, but i think i covered myself prettywell.
Let me know what you guys think, i have plans, but nothing matters more than first hand expierence(youguys) and knowing how to sort out the bull**** you hear everywhere. I will be doing my exhaust prolly the first or second week of feb. so any feedback b4 then would be awesome.
thanks,
Brian

They actually have traffic cops in SS Camaros? What is that, 380 hp or whatever? Good God Jesus! That's crazy... the cops are universally in Crown Vics around here (MD) and often will think twice about high-speed pursuits (100+) in them because of some kind of chassis flex at high speeds in the Fords... I had one friend in a '88 RX-7 get caught at 115 in a 65, but another in a CRX escaped (no pursuit at all) with 100 in a 55... go figure. They usually rely on the "twirling lights loud siren scare factor." Terrible about your license, man.... cops need something better to do, don't they? So we can save our valuable car-money and licenses, and not worry about CAR THIEVES. Way to go, 5-0... doing all you can to recover them, my ass....
hey welcome-we need more traffic!
about exhuast, i have stock piping but no muffler-it fell over a while back, it sounds great! but eversice i install my EGT probe its sounding different. i dont know what exhuast to recommend but for myself i would get the dc sport twin loop becuase i dont like loud/annoying exhuast systems and from what i read it kinda low but better than stock.

hey i have a question. You say you work in a honda parts department right. Well i have a 93 civic cx hatch and im wondering if you could find out if you have any rear speaker mounts for the hatch. The local honda dealership had none in stock , soooo.... If you could let me know itwould be gratly appreciated. Im not sure what model they would have come in for the hatch, possibly the Si.

"red stripe" floormats? If so, how much? For a '95 Si...also, your
"angel eye" for the AUX's idea sounds pretty good. Never thought
of that one
.PS: How come your Honda techs refuse to install superior parts?
I understand it's "hard to beat" OEM, but I buy the best, and
even when I agree to waive the warrentee, they still say NO
, at least here, (in Ga.).PPS: Get those new Enkei R(whatever they are called) wheels;
the superlight ones. And get 16 inches or lower. 18 inches is
INSANE, man!
However, I'd like to see some pics, if you"go for it"
.
If you are going to run 10 pounds of turbo, a 2.5 inch exhaust is not going to be enough.... especially on a B16. If I were you, I wouldnt mess with exhaust untill you decide when you are going to boost it.
For N/A, the Tanabe is an awesome system... I had one on an integra gs-r that i had, and loved it!!!!!! 2.5 inch would be fine, and im sure that if you just bought the super racing mediallion muffler and had the rest of the exhaust custom made it would rock arse!!!
For turbo... go with a 3 inch downpipe, and a full 3 inch exhaust, into either a thermal or an apexi N1 muffler with a 3 inch inlet. You definitely do NOT want to go with a twin canister muffler if you are going the turbo route... the less bendy and restrictive the better for both power and spool time.
As for the 16's... definitely drop the car before you throw rims on it... the del sols sway really badly if you put larger and wider rims on the stock suspension. A good drop for a del sol is anywhere between 1.8 and 2.5 depending on taste.
If you like the rims, keep them... 16's look really well balanced on the del sol... not to big and flashy, but not too small either. The drop will make them look a billion times better than they did when you had them on before.. but i would stay away from 18's on a sol... it can be done, but not without some headaches, rubbing, and eventually replacing the clutch (just too heavy).
Oh... one more thing... for a short shifter, I (have and) would personally buy a shifter for a 94-00 Integra, and cut several inches off of the top, and re-dye it for the shift knob. the bottom is much longer on those, wich makes your shifts really quick and solid... BUT MAKE SURE TO DO THIS BEFORE THE EXHAUST IS MADE, TO AVOID THE BOTTOM OF THE SHIFTER HITTING THE EXHAUST!!!! <- very important.
You have a very awesome car, and very good and well-thought plans for it (other than the neons, in my humble opinion).
Good luck....Hope this helps at all.
By the way... be sure to post pics of the angel eyes and the carbon fiber panel... i cant wait to check them out!!!!

Thanks for your input guyz.i will prolly stick with my 16's , just cause i dont have the cash to dump into 18's right now. I want to go boost really bad...... so bad that i get raging mega huge viagra powered boners when i think about it.....(j/k -as you can tell, i dont have a girlfriend
..... but i need daily drivability, and in iowa weather, it will be hard to keep. so i will prolly still go with the block guards, then just run a big fat shot of juice........for now(getting wood again). whew.
Angel eyes should be done by the end of the month - i just need to find 4" round fog lights that i can take the lens/cover off. Ive already tried 2 kinds. Now im thinking of checkin out 94+ integra projector low beam lamps cause they look almost the same and i bet they have a clear non halogen glass lens. so if anybody has some lying around or wants to find some 4 me CHEAP, i will buy them and if they work i will make a set 4 you too. should be able to get pics.
SO . im leaning tward the dual can axle back because of the looks - with 2.5in b-pipe and prolly a glasspack. just cause i put one on my 91Hatch when it was waking up all the neighbors and they stopped complaining when i put a 3-foot(literally-lol) glass pack on plus i felt like it was more sporty sounding, no more backfires .
Serious_Sol - im checkin on the floor mats.
Riceduder11 - Yes, they are avalible - i think it was for a DX, i will get prices for you later... i cant remember off the top of my head. There are 2 pices per speaker, one is a vertical bracket, and then there is the speaker plate that attaches to that. I will look and see what you'd need 4 trim pieces too, cause it didnt look like it came with any.
PS: F@*% the police - and the even gayer part about gettin that big ass ticket was the cop that pulled me over gave me like 3 feild sobriety tests, made me empty all my pockets and searched me, he anwsered my cellphone when it rang, searched my car and tore the **** out of it. by then like 4 more cop cars were there, and then tried to bust me for havin like 6 cellphones and a pry bar in my car cause the same phones had been reported stolen .... he shut up about it when i gave him my business card from the Cell Phone place that i worked at.
sssoooo gay. wasted like 3 hours of my time and i lost my license. bastard. what goes around, comes around cops - haha
