Default 17x7 40 offset?

Hey guys,

My g/f just bent the **** out her 2000 civic rims, so I need to order new ones. I found a deal on a set of 17x7's, but are in 40 offset. Will that cause any problems? I know the ideal is 42 to tuck in a little better, but will the 40s rub the fenders. Her car is not lowered, but I might drop a set of Eibachs (or something subtle) in there while I'm at it. Nothing too drastic.

Should I grab these or keep looking for something with +42?

Thanks

You won't have a prob with a +40 mm offset if the car isn't extremely low. Even if it is, you still won't have a problem. But if she bent a 17" wheel, most likely she'll do it again. You may want to ask your girl to go down to a 16" wheel.

BTW Your Supra is badass!!!!! You have more pics? Mods?

She actually fell asleep and nailed a curb 2 blocks away from home.

Both driver side rims are bent real bad. These are the civic 14s. Now, instead of paying $100+ a rim for civic wheels, I figured this would be the time to upgrade and get her a new set. She's usually good and careful and I'm not worried about her bending more (if she does then she does, as long as she stays awake. She was lucky she hit a curb and not a car. What a wake up call).

I guess I could get her 16s. But in this case, no matter what size was on the car, the rims would have been toast.

Thanks about the supra. Just BPU (intake, exhaust, downpipe, boost) with Teins,HRE's.

I have 17x7 with a 40 offset on my Tantrums. I am lowered about 1.75 inches or so all the way around. I would have some rubbing problems. I rolled my front fenders and cut out the rear fenders and now its fine

Do you think with Eibachs lowering barely over an inch, this would still be an issue? Or would I not have a problem since the drop is so subtle?

205/40's.
I don't know. I'm just playing with this idea, but if I do this for her car, she will kill me if there are any problems. We made a deal that I don't mess with her car. I can do what I want to mine, but hers stays normal (as she says).

I called Honda. They want $189 a rim for the damn 14" pieces of crap. And one of her tires is messed up too. So for a couple extra dollars, I could replace them with something that looks better. But only if there are no fitment issues. I have cut fenders and 11" wide wheels on mine, no rubbing, dropped a lot. I had Neuspeed Sports on my old GSR a few years back with 205/40s with no rubbing problems (but I think they were +42). I am just trying to make sure here. Worst case, I roll/cut her fenders and not tell her.
