Lookin into buildin my engine finally
I want to build this to be a car that is somewhat reliable to where I can drive around a little, and race it on the track. My question is this? I've heard mixed opinions about this and did a little bit of reading.
Right now I think going with a B20 block, LS head, and Spoon tranny. The piece an am sceptical about is the head. Whether I should go with V-Tec or not. I heard/read with V-tec, when it is turbo'd it is not only much more difficult to tune, but you get a good amount of blow by. Any suggestions or opinions? Facts please.

First fact, its vtec not v-tec. When you talk about track do you mean 1/4 mile or road racing? There is no reason for a spoon tranny especially if you are going to use boost. Also i dont suggest vtec with boost its just more of a hassle to install.

thanks for the correction of my grammar:fawk: And yes I mean the quarter mile. My thoughts for the tranny are either a Type R, ro Spoon. Considering they are about teh same price I thouht I might benefit fromt he spoon one a bit more. And thanks for your thoughts for boost with "v tec". Figured it would be more hassle than it was worth... and actually as I said, I read it was actually better without.

The type-r tranny isnt good for drag, its gearing is too short and you will end up shifting into 5th. My suggestion for boost is a gsr tranny with a lsd.

Useful info! Thanks, I'll have to look into that. But do u agree the LS head is the best this? I also see your point about the gears.
Personally i would just use a ls head and block. But i dont really know that much about the b20 block. B18a/b's are pretty strong engines and can take a significant amount of boost with proper tuning.

I was orginally going to use a B18C1 engine, head, etc and supercharge it. So far into it I priced it out and almost started ordering parts. But just as I was about to, I read into the B20/ls head and found it would not be as reliable as the B18c1 supercahrger, but more of what I am lookin for. The B20's are just a strong as the B18's, but might be a little more difficult in the end when it comes time to tune them. More mix matched parts I guess.
Your posts make no sense to me at all. What the hell is the benefit of a B20 block with an LS head? And how could you compare that lame set-up to a supercharged GSR powerplant? Please explain.
