That all depends on whether you're talking about creating downforce or decreasing lift.

No, you can create downforce without reducing lift.

Canards create downforce. Wings create downforce

Spoilers reduce lift. Underbody plates reduce lift. Diffusers reduce lift.

if ur refering to the canards.... they are on super light gutted race cars...which make a difference.

Canards are typically made from CF or aluminum, so they don't flex much, if at all. They're also typically bolted on with L-brackets.

you are stupid. downforce IS reducing lift. and diffusers dont reduce lift at all. they direct air flow that goes underneath the car to make it more aerodynamic. f*ckin newb.

Let me put it this way... if you add canards, the amount of lift your car has is the same, you just added downforce to counteract the lift.

If you add diffusers and underbody plates, you are reducing lift (and drag) by providing a smooth flow of air underneath the car.

A spoiler reduces lift (and drag) by moving air turbulence that accurs in the wake of a vehicle away from the rear of the car.

A wing creates downforce by using drag to push down on the rear of the car.

Two different strategies that work together accomplish the same goal.
