You will lose high-end power, and possibly some throughout the power band.
some as in what? i thought hondas dont gain shiit with just basic bolt ons anyhow. i also have crush bent 2.25 piping and my car is loud as a mother fawker, and im trying to eliminate that w/o a loss of to much power.

I figure a typical 4-2-1 header yields an average of 2-3 additional hp across the entire power pand, and that a 4-1 will yield about 5-6hp or so peak, but only say, 1-2 across the rest of the powerband. These numbers are estimates, but if we use them as an example, then going from a 4-1 back to stock would result in a significant loss in peak power, and probably a 1-2hp or so over the rest of the power band.

If you have 2.25" crush-bent piping, it's probably restricting your exhaust flow about as much as the stock piping would. If you want a quieter exhaust note, while not sacrificing power, get 2.25" mandrel-bent piping with an inline resonator, and run a decent quality straight-thru muffler.

Crush bent piping is never good for performance.

It isn't just 4-1 or 4-2-1. A lot of pricey headers are actually 4-2-1, but they merge so fast they give the benefits of a 4-1 as well as not totally raping low end in the ass.

Don't believe the 'hondas don't gain power from bolt ons' myth.

This myth was established by people who bought a short ram intake, OBX header, and cheap fart can exhaust, and wonder why they didn't make any power.

If you buy quality components you will have power gains. Plain and simple.

oem header make power over a good 4-1 header? :eh:
crush bent exhaust piping? shouldve saved the money and kept the stock one... both will perform the same since both are crush bent.

if youre serious about drag racing, u will want to keep that 4-1 header. lose torque? pshhh. f*ck torque, itll come on its time when we modify the engine for performance. we have 4bangers. a lot of people had told me to get a 4-2-1 header and that with a 4-1 header ill lose the oomph when driving on the streets.. BS. i put on a one piece 4-1 header and i had no problems or lag from driving on the streets.
