A coil just goes out, some last forever and some last only a couple years. The last time mine went out it was right after I started the car (it just died and would not restart) My best friends wife has a 97' Accord and it was fine one day and would not start the next. For an external coil just get one from a junkyard. That's what we did on the Accord and that was almost two years ago and the junkyard coil is still ticking and we only paid $20.00 for it. They either work or they don't.
if its what i think it is autozone will test a coil for free for you.

thanks for the insight. online sells a new coil by bosch for 37 bucks.... local store sells it for 78.....

it used to gradually go out... before it would speratically die.... almost immediately after I start it... i'd let it sit... and then it'd start fine. and be problem free for months... it started to get worse. and then now, won't start...... i'll get a new rotor just so I have a new one, they are only $8.....

My car is fixed!

IF anyone else has a similar problem I had, you should check out your distributor system. 92-93 are supposedly prone to the distributor problems.

The problem was in fact the Ignition coil. In the process I replaced the rotor, distributor cap, ignition coil and now I replaced the spark plugs.

My spark plugs were completely worn out and out of factory gap so that might have stresed the ignition coil.

thanks for all the help... and I haven't unloaded my fuel injectors yet

the coil and ignitor is always the culprit if your car is 70k miles +

you are lucky your car was parked. mine gave out on the freeway going around 60 mph
