Rear disc conversion
Im gettin ready to purchase the rear disc conversion for my EJ, Im having trouble figuring out what to purchase.
Some vendors say it come with brake lines and some say without???? (confused)
I've also heard people say if you swap to rear disc you also have to change out your brake booster, master cylinder and calipers to Integra parts. Is this correct?
Can't I use my existing parts and the calipers that already come wit the conversion??
After I have made the purchase is there any maintenance I need to do with the conversion before installing?? Like new rotors, etc....

It is recommended that you swap booster/cylinder to a 15/16 or larger to accommodate more fluid to be pushed through the lines to the rear calipers/disc. It is not needed, however you may feel a "soft" pedal feel. Some people also recommend using a 40/40 proportion valve to distribute the fluid evenly.
You can use the existing conversion parts unless it comes with seized calipers or bad rotors/pads.
Brake lines are usually replaced with new oem lines or steel braided aftermarket ones.

This 15/16 booster/cylinder where do I get it from? From which vehicle?
For the sake of lack of terms, what is a 40/40 proportion valve? Where can I get that from? What vehicle?
Is it recommended to replace the brake lines??

i just swapped a gsr rear setup onto my 97 civic.
the 15/16 mc and booster can be nabbed from most integra's. the gsr's had a 1". but you want to be careful you don't oversize the MC. running one that is too big will shorten the pedal stroke and take away from your ability to feather the brakes precisly.
the prop valve is the valve that proportions how much fluid to send to the front brakes and how much to send to the back brakes. what proportion. this can be acquired from most integras, as well as 96-00 civic dx vehicles. there are others but those are some common ones. i actually have an extra 40/40 valve off an integra for sale if you would like to purchase it. i can send you some pictures.
brake lines - yes you will have to replace the brakelines. the soft lines that were on your drum setup will not fit the rear disk setup. almost ANY brake hose from a honda/acura will fit. you need soft lines that are about 24" long. the ones i used were actually from the front brakes of an s2000 haha. but they all have the same thread pitch and size and are almost all the same lengths.
if you need any other help i'd be glad to assist. I'm running 10.3" with ITR calipers up front, the 9.5" gsr rear disks, and a 1" mc and booster from a gsr, stock dx 4040 prop valve. all in my 97 dx.

No real questions on the swap, all of the info I need is available on the boards. It would just be nice if I got a helping hand on something that is a little complex for me (I'm sure it isn't once I see how it's done).
ah ok. yeah dude the RSX seats are soo comfy you should do it! ej1 coupe? or ej6/ej8? it's too bad it wasn't an ek, i'd make you a set of brackets that would let you literally bolt them in :-D

I don't have the seats anymore. I ended up selling them to a guy with an EK hatch. I still kinds wished that I could have put them in, just didn't have time for the labor to put them in.

I'm still running on stock brakes... Well, I have powerslot rotors on AEM pads. But I have been looking at I think the fastbrakes kit for my car. I forgot which specific model, but it upgrades to slightly larger front rotors with 4 piston calipers but could still use 15" wheels.
I don't know, but there is something about cars that has a nice set of wheels and seeing discs on all corners (when they originally didn't have them).

mhm i know what you mean. my goal was to still be able to tuck them under a 14" wheel (car is my DD so i ride on 14" steelies/snowtires in the winter. current summer set are 14" but i'm on the prowl for some perfect 15x7's)
