so redline is like 7-8k then. The reason why i asked was because they make this intake(edelbrok) and it sets your powerband up to 7000-10,000 rpm. there is also one for 4000-7500 rpm.

an intake manifold is not the only determining factor for your powerband. cams, headwork, etc. all play big roles.

If you want a high-revving sports car, which has modification capabilities and RWD, you should probably be looking for an RX-7, highly doubt that you'll find a good one for 3000, but its worth looking at. Some other cars id look at considering the budget are Nissan 240SX, or 300ZX, Mitsu 3000GT. However I would personally look for either a Civic Si or an Integra.

There is no point of asking a question like that because its only a matter of opinion. The reason that is so, because when discussing a 15+ y/o 240SX one can only guess at how long the motor will last. There's a LOT more to consider when trying to determine how long the car will last. What I recommend you to consider is what is your preference and what options you have realistically. For example, you will not find a 240SX under 80k, mint condition for 3g's, maybe you wont even find a 240 in your area. Reliability wise, I'd say Honda/Acura, however when your budget is 1-3k, its only a matter of what you can find.
