silverstars
i went to pep boys today to get some new wiper blades and i got the bosch ones for 10 bucks each. man they are great, wipes very quietly and extremely clean. well anyways, i saw the new 9003 silverstars in stock
but it was 25 bucks a piece
. i was very tempted to get them but knowing that the total would be 50 bucks i placed them back on the shelf. i really wanted to get them but i was not too satisfied with my previous purchase of the cool blues. i did not see any noticeable difference in brightness and was even worse then the stock bulbs during rain or snow. i just needed to know if its worth the 50 bucks before i make the purchase cuz i wasted 30 for the cool blues. anybody have a pair? are they noticeably better and brighter than the stock halogens?

I was wondering the exact same thing b/c my hiper industries bulbs are ok, but one of them burned out after not even being installed for a year the other day (luckily I had a spare lying around). Are silverstars worth the money? Also, how long do they last for?
Any COATED bulbs will burst, it's a matter of when... but I'm pretty sure that the Silverstars are a little better quality, and I think if they blow pre-maturely, you can send them back.

wow thanks for all the info eliteaccord, four posts just to respond to one question  as for my preferences, i really dont care for the color of the light, what matters most to me is the brightness of the light during normal conditions and during bad weather. i want a good bulb which can light the road better during a clear day, and during a rainy or snowy day. if silverstars are just gonna be worse during bad weather just like the cool blues then i guess i can save myself a few bucks. as for me i am using the sylvania Xtravision bulbs right now. are the philips vision plus bulbs better than these or just the same?
I would say they are about the same. The Sylvania Xtravision is one of those high-output street legal bulbs...sometimes referred to as "30%" bulbs because they typically (according to the manufacturer) are "30%" brighter, as well as being a tad whiter (say 50-100K). GE also has a version of a high output, called HiOutput, with bulbs sizes ending in "HO" ie. 9003HO.
Basically, they have different mixtures and tighter filament winding. Of course, you don't get something for nothing...bulb life is less than a normal or long-life bulb. These high output bulbs (depending on the company) are the basis of FMVSS108-compliant "blue" bulbs.

Just out of curiousity EliteAccord (since you really know your sh!t), I read your other thread about the Silverstars. I understand how they're much brighter than knock-off HID blue bulbs. However, I have Hiper Industry bulbs in my car right now that are rated at 80/85W (yes I know they're illegal). How are Silverstars (at 50/55w) gonna compare to these in terms of brightness? Am I gonna notice a decrease? I'm leary of getting more of these hiper bulbs just b/c they don't last long, but if I switch over to the silverstars, am I gonna see a decrease in visability?
