Default obd2 to obd1 dizzy timing

A kid at school is having problems with his car. It's a 97 EX coupe with an obd1 94 GSR motor. Since it doesn't have the ECU jumper plugs what do I have to do to advance or retard his timing? There's gotta be something to jump the auto advance, right?

I'm quite certain the car has the jumper plugs, my 98 does. It's right down at the ecu and is probably tied off so you don't notice it, and has a rubber cap on it. Is the distributor set right, and there's no problems with the ecu? With the auto-corrected timing it's strange for it to be that off. Has he checked it with a timing light to know that is the problem?

definatly has the jumper.. Geo's hatch is a 98 barebones CX model & it also has the jumper in the same location that your 5th gen does.
