Default Considering a new car, good mileage from a sporty car

Currently I have a 00 Civic 4dr Auto, and I'm looking to go for a manual that will start up daily and get at least 23~mpg city yet still be fun. So far only a CRX with a B-swap will seem to get decent mileage and still have some pep, but not sure what else is out there. People don't seem to be too willing to tell me what mileage they get in their cars..

Thanks for any help, max price in the $6500 range for reliability price premiums

94-97 GSR is what I'd recommend. I don't know if you could find one with low miles on it. And I'm not sure if you can find a 98-01 GSR for that price. You might wanna check out a Civic Si...but again, don't know if you could find a decent one for a reasonable price or not.

A boosted D series will both be conservative on fuel and faster than a B series swap.
