Hey guys, it's about that time of year again, and i figured that i would enlighten you all through the next couple of weeks with a build thread. As many of you know, last year i found a problem with my car. No, i already had the blow off noise (with the turbo).. and no.. i wasn't trying to smoke ws6's with a stock d-series. My problem was the ability to put real power, to the ground.

I had the one wheelie peelie goin on half way down the track. Still pulled off 12.8 @108mph last year on 12psi tho. Anyways, I spent this past winter building a few things, like a GSR tranny with LSD, a Top Mount turbo manifold, and some nice pluming to get rid of the nasty bends that i had in my setup.

Tonight i brought my transmission home from a buddy's shop where it was re-built and cleaned up. I did much of the work but i didn't have a press and it was my first time so we did it at his shop. Being that i brought tranny home today, i figured it was time to yank the motor and existing tranny out of the car.

Heres some pix to get things rolling. I'm sure i'll be updating this nightly for the next probly 2 weeks till it's completed.

Start to finish in 2hrs, everything is now on the floor!

thanks guys, i'm gonna start to clean up the exhaust mess from last season. It spit all over my candy red block.. then i'm gonna start cleaning up my engine bay. I'll have more pix tonight.

I just ordered my new ACT clutch from LSD motorsports, they didn't have it in stock so i probably won't see it till next week, so i figure if i can get everything else done ahead of time, i can just put the clutch in and drop the motor in when i get it.

 

Wow! I don't think I have ever seen a tranny that clean before. Did you powder coat it?

 

no, it's a spray on coating that was applied while it was apart, i didn't have time to coat it. If i did it would have been Candy Red to match the block.

thanks for noticing tho, it took some hours of cleaning to get it ready!

there is something wrong with that tranny, it only turns the front wheels :crazyr:
