So what do i need to do my car to accomplish this...
alright guys sorry for sounding like a dumbass, i guess i have a lot to learn. Is there a better car i could have started out with for this goal? I just want to beat my friend and show him that imports are faster, i will someday. hopefully. But i guess ill take your advice and save my money for better things.
But one more question, what if i just get an exhaust? That would be cool right?

no need to apologize... its a learning process
just as dont get a fart cannon for an exhaust...
i have the apexi world sport 2... nice and quiet but distinctive.
as for getting a car to beat ur friend......
how much did u want to spend?
a wrx would give it a good run for a starting suggestion

Take your 500 and tack on another 3000 for a GSR swap and some suspension parts. That way you can still have a decently quick car, you still won't be able to beat your friends WS6, but you'll take some of the normal cars out there. If you're so content on beating him, then boost the GSR motor that you swap in. Also take everything out of your car that you don't need, a/c, power steering, everything behind the driver's seat should be taken out and thrown in a pile. Doing this will make your car lighter and be able to accelerate a little faster. After you do all the things I listed you might have a chance to beat him with a good launch
im gonna pitch in my 2 cents and say you are doing this for the wrong reasons mate its not about street racing to be able to take out your friend you are gonna have to do a swap more then likely swap internals some blot ons a good boost have your shifting down and do some weight reduction
They are hard ot beat in a straight line, but for autocrossing I've beaten alot of cars with my Civic. You are on the internet - use it to look up things like 1/4 mile times of the cars you are talking about.
The WS6 is a powerful torque monster. My friend has one. Hondas are revless wonders, but are for economy. Yes you can beat a WS6 or any car with money. An engine swap will run upwards of $3000+. Turboing your stock DX will probably cost the same but probably pump out 200hp max for that engine. It would be a grenade waiting to blow up.
The Civics that beat muscle cars are cars running turbo kits with Integra or K-series engines now. Something like $5000-10,000 invested in the car and tuning. To even hang with a WS6 in a Civic you need at least 300hp and lots of traction, which FWD suffer off the line.
It's called talking out of your ass. Nothing to back him up except all talk. I bet if he went up against your buddy with the WS6 he would get his ass handed to him and make him run home to mommy. There is a difference between a know it all and a poser. Someone that talks the talk and doesn't walk the walk. Most people on HAN are very knowledgeable with Hondas. We all know our stuff. Some of us have been racing for 10+ years now some even longer than me. WOW I've been on here for a long time

My friend has an almost stock Ex and he says he can take them with no problem most of the time. Whys he different and not me?

so even if i couldnt beat him in straight-line, i could definitly take in on a road course right? Just trying to see if i have anything on him at all. But thanks for pointing me in the right direction, ill just have to go research some of this stuff on my own.
the only thing u got on him is gas mileage bud......
stop trying to be the bigger man with a faster car dude.
you definently stand a better chance thats for sure. Who cares if you cant beat your friends car, he probably payed close to 20k for his, or depending on your age, mommy and daddy payed close to 20k for his. If you bought your car with your own money, then be proud that your making your own way. The motor in your car just isnt upto the task of being worked on, so eliminate any thought of doing anything to it, it just wouldnt be worth it. I can tell you that for about 5k, maybe less if you can find some good deals you can make a D16 that will easily hand him his ass ON A TRACK. I know this because thats about how much it cost me to build the sol. Like someone else mentioned, when you start getting into that kind of power though, traction becomes a real issue, and daily driving a car with that agressive a build can be tricky sometimes. Dont worry about beating everyone around you, and just build the car to be what ever you want it to be.
