Default Cluster Guage/Electrical problem?

Gents,

When I'm driving my 01 Civic 4dr LX on the highway my cluster gauge and radio and everything will shut down...once I get to a stop sign, it will all kick back in and turn on again.

I thought it was due to a loose connection on my battery from when I put in a new battery about a month ago, but once I tightened it down it is still doing the same thing for about a week now. Could it be that the battery is to a point that it wont charge up anymore because of the loose connection that I had?... Any suggestions?

no... because the car would struggle to start. the radio and gauges draw far less energy to operate than your starder or ignition would. what you're probebly looknig @ is either a short somewhere... or maybe just a loose ground. pull out your radio and see what u can find. check your fuses too..

was it a used car or new?

What about it possibly being my alternator? I know its only a 6 year old car (bought it used 2 years ago.) and alternators last alot longer than that usually.

Last time I had an alternator go on me my old car died as soon as I stopped it... I took my car into a shop on Saturday and a guy told me that my alternator is not giving off a good charge anymore and thats whats causing the problem but just the way he was acting, I didnt believe him...
