Default is it ok to install manual engine in automatic transmission

my civc was givingme problem and my mechanic recommend i buy a new engine. the engine i bought happened to be maual transmission and my car was automatic. the mechanic said is ok so i bought it.
now my check engine light is on and the mechanic is saying because i used a manual engine.
i am confuse here.
could somebody help me out

did you do a auto to manual conversion at the same time? or did you keep the auto tranny and swap just the engine? what ecu are you using? figure out what the cel is for and fix it.

i think they did a conversion because i still drive it using autimatic trasmission.

i took it back to the mechanic to do a diagnotic work. he indicated there are 13 different codes showing.

I think only the ecu makes the difference, the engine wont be different.

as far as i know same engine different tranny....you should have been ok...i think somewhere the mechanic screwed up and isnt admitting to it...but i could be wrong

engines are definatly the same.. Ask the mechanic to give you a list of the codes.

Bring the list to US!

sounds like your ecu, just clear the codes and dont worry unless they come back, then fix what the codes are for......that simple.

thanks for all the replies. i took it to a honda dealer for diagnostic and it came ot the the Ho2 sensor and ICA needs to be fixed. is it with the engine or is not related to the egine
