Default Install the B00st myself??

I'm really close to getting my Drag III FINALLY ....I've found some install webpages telling you step by step on how to install it but I wanna know if neone out there has installed a turbo themselves. I have a pretty good knowledge of engines and all but I know just how much I could mess it up if I dont do it right. ANd if I manage to get the turbo on myself would it be safe to drive to a Tune Shop?

p.s. And those that have gotten their engines tuned at a shop, how much was did it cost?

I dont think its that hard. Pretty much bolt on process. But some of the wiring might be a little difficult.

I've done it. Sorry, but if you have to ask, then don't do it. Asking means you have no confidence in yourself. I never asked myself if I was capable of doing it.

The wiring is the only hard part depending on what the kit comes with. Good Luck

I wasn't confident till i got quoted 600 bucks to install it then i was like :madfawk: to the local rice shops and i did it myself. It really wasn't hard at all. I thought the oil pan was going to be a nightmare but it was actually really easy. As long as your parts fit correctly and you have all the parts you need you should be able to do it yourself fairly easily.

A hole has to be drilles and the pan has to be equiped with an oil return from the turbo. The oil feed usually just comes from a T on the oil sending unit.

I just emptied my oil pan out and then unbolted it (it's 20+ bolts plus these 2 brackets that hold it on) Take it out and match your oil return flange up to the pan and drill. In my case i had a big hole in the middle where the oil flows and 2 small holes on each side that held the flange onto the pan. After you do that clean out the pan really good to get rid of the metal shavings. Put some silicone around the flange on the outside and screw it down tight. Then just run a steel braided feed line from the turbo onto a stock oil pressure sender on the back of the block. This sender is right above the oil filter. Make sure you teflon tape all the threads to every fitting or else you'll install your whole turbo, find out it leaks oil and have to take it out and reinstall it again like me
