Del Sol seats into 96 Civic - rail/slider unbolt question
Ok, I picked up my del sol seats tonight to swap into my 96 Civic. I already know that I have to swap the inner rail, but the problem is I'm not quite sure what to begin unbolting. Stupid, I know, but I've never switched seat rails/brackets/etc, so I don't know exactly what I'm looking for.
From what I can see with the seats out of the car, the inner rail looks like more than just the rail and the slider come off. So do I unbolt the part that has the rail/slider/seat belt attached to it - it also has a big bolt attaching it to the upper part of the seat - unbolt this?
As for the outer rail, it looks as if just the rail and slider unbolt from the larger metal piece that I am unbolting on the inner rail side.
So:
Outer rail (the side with the plastic piece, the tilt/recline handle) - just rail and slider unbolt
Inner rail - rail/slider/and big metal piece that the seat belt hooks onto as well as the upper part of the seat - unbolt
Is this right? sorry its confusing, I know I could just try it but I have a very limited window of time to do this tomorrow afternoon, want to make it go smoothly
thanks!

Ok, I got the inner rail with the big metal piece hooked onto the del sol seat now, and kept the outer rail the same...
This is definitely not right, the seat is lopsided and the outer rail does not line up.
What am I doing wrong? I searched this forum and it seems that many people agree w/ 96-00 keep outer rail, exchange inner rail.
So I guess I'll just swap the inner rail tomorrw - except do I take off the big metal piece on this side too? Or just the rail and slider?
-How do you get the last bolt (its square and has red threadlocker on it) off if indeed I just need to take the rail and slider off. I put some PB blaster on it overnight hoepfully this will help.
-If I have to take the big metal piece off, it hooks up with the upper seat back waaaay up in there - did yall take the upholstery off to get up in there if you did it this way?
-There is a cable underneath the civic seat that the del sol doesnt have - I htnk its the slide forward function to let people in the back (so of course the del sol wouldnt have it) - did yall swap this over too?
Sucks, always something simple is complicated for me...but it gets done somehow thanks yall

Basically, you want to take the rails that were originally in your car, and install them in the del sol seats (both inner and outer rail).
This so that the rails that bolt on to the car line up because you're using your existing seat rails.

thanks- But is it the slider, rail, and then the metal piece that hooks onto the side and upper (as in the back) of the seat? Or just the slider and the rail?
When you take the big metal piece off, basically the seat is split into two - upper and lower...If you just take the rail slider off though, the seat stays together. maybe that will help explain what I'm talking about.
thanks.

Ok, I got it: maybe this will be clear, sorry I was scatterbrained last night at 1AM had to get to sleep for work.
The outer rail:
slider
which hooks into the rail (can take this off)
slider which hooks into the rail which hooks into the metal piece that includes the sliding/tilt mechanism (or take this entire unit off)
So for you del sol swap guys did you end up swapping your tilt/recline mechanism too or is this not a part of the rail swap?
thanks

Ok, got it - never mind but thanks anyway. I guess I was just stoked to get them last night couldn't wait to put them in.
But anybody who does do this, in a 96-00 Civic (at least in my 96) you have to take the inner rail, slider, AND bracket off (they are all one part). JUST the outer rail and slider come off of the outer bracket - the latter is a separate part.
Not too hard to figure out, but man I was stoked to get rid of my 242,000 mile seats!
thanks
