Default Acceptable Shaft play?

I bought a Garret airsearch off ebay for cheap (cheap enough that if it's blown, was still a good price for a core) And it has very minimal shaft play...they turbo itself looks rough but the shaft doesn't rub in any places and no fins are bent...are there specific tests I should do to the turbo before attempting to put it on my car?

ehh. i suppose you could measure the play it has with a micrometer and check garret specifications for what is normal shaft play. the optimal thing to do is to ship it to someone whom professionally rebuilds them and has the machinery to make sure everything is in balance. i would throw it on the car with an oil restrictor and beat the shit out of it. im going to assume its a t3 turbo, there so abundent and come on so many different cars. u could get a t3 from volvos, saabs, chrystlers, ford thunderbirds and alot of other cars. strap it on and let her rip.

ehh may as well just send it in for a $150 rebuild & start fresh, rather than turbo'ing your car & then having down time a week later.
